On Monday (Day 9 of our trip), we woke up at our hotel in Albany, New York. Adam is a cutie in the morning!
On Monday (Day 9 of our trip), we woke up at our hotel in Albany, New York. Adam is a cutie in the morning!
We checked out of our hotel and picked up breakfast at McDonalds. This was the only day of our trip when breakfast wasn't included as part of our hotel, and we definitely missed it.
We drove a little bit in New York, then quickly passed the state line into Vermont. Vermont means "green mountain", and we found that to be very true. Vermont was gorgeous!
We made a quick stop at a lake, so we could be sure we actually set foot on Vermont ground.
After a short time we entered the state of New Hampshire. We stopped for a picnic lunch on the grounds of the state capital in Concord.
New Hampshire was a really beautiful state to drive through also!
After more driving, we crossed the state line into Maine. Our destination was the little coastal town of York, where we discovered the Nubble Lighthouse at Sohier Park. A rocky beach was a fun change for us sandy Floridians, and we all had a great time climbing around on the rocks.
There were some pretty flowers there, too.
We loved our time in Maine! This is a picture of angry Zach, who was stomping his feet and not wanting to leave.
We sweetened the day with a stop for ice cream at Dunne's.
Before the day was over we had to backtrack a little bit. Our hotel that evening was in Rochester, New Hampshire, so we took a pretty scenic route back through the countryside.
After checking in to our hotel, we went in search of dinner. Jared and I ordered hamburgers form Wild Willy's, a well-reviewed local burger joint. The children were all picky and only wanted plain burgers, so they were happy with the inexpensive burgers from McDonalds. However, something didn't agree with Zach, since he threw up in the night. :(. Thankfully it was only once, and he was just fine the next day. That was our one case of vomit for the trip.
