Our Trip to Utah: Grant Family

After a wonderful week spent with the Tanner family, we shifted gears to spend time with the Grant side of the family. Over the weekend we made a quick trip to Idaho Falls to visit the Larsens.
We enjoyed a nice family dinner on Saturday with Craig and Tammy and Erin and Bowen and Grandma and Grandpa. The girls loved jumping on the trampoline!

We stayed with Kristi's grandparents and went to church with them, and had a nice visit.
My cousin Erin with her baby Annily, who is just a few months older than Zach.

The drive back to Utah should have been less than a 4 hour drive, but thanks to some really annoying road construction it was over 5 hours in the car. Yuck! But the kids did really well, with the kids mostly just playing games and watching movies.
By Sunday evening all of my sisters were in town for a Grant Family reunion (the Nelsons and the Johnsons drove from Canada, and we met up with the Bybee's who live in West Jordan). We rented a house together for a few days and it was so nice to visit and play together.

We had a fun afternoon exploring the Discovery Gateway Children's Museum.

And we spent some time at Temple Square. We took the official tour of the Conference Center, which we had never done before. It is such a beautiful building. When we were in the auditorium, Richard Elliot walked in and started playing the organ.
What child can resist sticking their hands in the beautiful fountains? Especially in 100 degree weather!

All 15 of the Grant grandchildren, minus Zach.

We finished the week with a picnic at Liberty Park, where we met up with our cousins David and Sara and their families, and Aunt Kaleen.

The four Grant girls. I am thankful to have such wonderful sisters! Hopefully we won't have to go four years before our next reunion!

Our Trip to Utah: Tanner Family

We were very excited to spend nearly two whole weeks visiting in Utah. We flew from Tampa to Salt Lake City. The kids all did very well on the flights (they were entertained a lot by watching movies on iPods).
 28 of the 29 grandchildren

The first week we spent with the Tanner family. We went to a niece's baptism, to the Linton family reunion, and to a Wessman family dinner. We spent a day at BYU where we enjoyed a reptile show at the Bean Museum, got ice cream at the Creamery, and outfitted the family in BYU t-shirts from the bookstore. Jared met with some professional contacts on campus (hopefully someday soon we'll end up with a job at BYU), while I drove the kids around Provo and showed them where we used to live.

We spent a few hours at Temple Square. It is always such a nice, beautiful place to visit. Anwyn was very interested in all of the displays, Lily mostly just wanted to run around, and Zach slept through a lot of it.

We went camping with the Tanners in Hobble Creek Canyon (near Springville). It was fun to sleep in a tent, relax outdoors and do some stargazing.
Mostly we were just thrilled to be able to spend time with our family. Anwyn had a blast with her cousins. She was so busy playing I hardly saw her. One night she told me "It's hard to go to sleep at a house with a playground." Thanks Becky and Paul for letting us stay with you!
Anwyn has 3 cousins who were born the same year she was, and Lily has 4 cousins born her same year.
The Tanner family, just missing Ryan and Marcelaine and Kevin.

The two great people who started it all.
Our family.
