Monday, January 19, was Martin Luther King, Jr day, so everyone had the day off from school and work. We decided to take advantage of the free entrance into a national park for the day offer. The only park within easy driving distance was the Castillo de San Marcos in St. Augustine. It is the oldest, continuously standing structure in the U.S. First a Spanish military fort, completed in 1695. It was interesting to explore.
Afterward we found a nearby beach to play at. The day was sunny, and the water was pretty cool, but the kids still loved it. They ran and splashed and fell (in their clothes) in the tide, and built in the sand. I stuck my feet in the water. I don't think Jared touched it. It is pretty nice to be able to go to the beach in January.

Like Father Like Son
Last week I came across a sweater in one of our children clothes boxes. This sweater is special, since it was Jared's when he was a young boy. The label says that it was hand-knit in Norway, and it was likely a gift from his Granny and Grandpa Tanner who were world travelers.
Here is a picture of Jared in the sweater, at 4 years old.
We thought it would be fun to re-create the photo with Zach, who is 4 years old (although he is quickly approaching 5 in April).
What do you think of the similarities??!! Such cute little boys!
