Home Video

Anwyn and I (Jared) made our first movie together. We decided to try a stop-motion video. Anwyn helped me move the items around. There's no story to it (wait, isn't that what all my movies are like!?) - it was just a trial run; we'll do a longer movie in the future.

Sweet Silly Lily

Lily is a very busy twenty month old. It is difficult to get a good picture of her, but here are some of the recent best photos of her antics.

Eating her sandwich.

Wearing her sandwich.

After the sandwich.

She loves to play in water. This activity is a regular occurrence at our home while I'm preparing dinner.
It is amazing to watch her learn and grow everyday. She loves to read books, ride her car, play with dolls, and dance to this song. She has the cutest smile and funny expressions, and she gives really good hugs and kisses.
We love having her in our family!

Father's Day

Here is our traditional photo Father's Day card. (In my opinion, if we've done it two years in a row it's now a tradition!)

Lily didn't want to sit still and hold on to her sign, so I tried taping it to her and this is the best I could get. She is a busy little girl so good pictures of her are difficult to come by.

We are thankful for the wonderful fathers in our life. You can read what Jared and I each wrote about fathers on our other blogs: Nurture Mama and A House of Prayer.

We had a nice Sunday Father's Day. I made chicken enchiladas and black beans and rice and zucchini and cantaloupe for dinner, with lemon bars for dessert (Jared loves lemon stuff!). The girls made a few pictures and cards for their dad. I am thankful for the wonderful father that Jared is, and I'm sure glad to have him as my partner when it comes to parenting!

Things we love about Jared

We celebrated Jared's birthday this week. We had a nice dinner at home and Jared got to eat off of the "special blue plate." Anwyn helped me make a lemon cake; both girls had fun sticking the candles in.

In honor of the birthday boy, here are 10 Things I Love About Jared

1. You never say unkind things about anyone—ever.

2. You are a wonderful blog coach for me—through all the steps of launching, publishing, and promoting. Nurture Mama wouldn’t be online (or look nearly as good) without you!

3. You expose me to a wide variety of music. From Yellowcard to the Beatles to Erich Kunzel to Jon Schmidt—sometimes all in the same hour!

4. You are “enduring to the end” of your schooling. Earning a PhD takes a lot of work and a lot of years, and I admire your perseverance.

5. You like to have snuggly movie date nights at home with me.

6. You are very intelligent.

7. You are a wonderful father. The girls get so excited (as do I) when you walk in the door after a day on campus.

8. You are a talented musician—piano, organ, vocal, composition. I aspire to someday be able to play like you!

9. You have a wonderful passion for reading and lifelong learning. You have a great taste in books and I like your recommendations.

10. You are good and kind and loving and supportive and helpful and loyal and wonderful!

Anwyn saw me writing my list so she decided to write her own list and give it to her Dad. This is what she came up with. (I helped her with the spelling, but she did the rest herself.)

Joy School Graduation

Yesterday was Anwyn's graduation from Joy School. She had wonderful teachers and had a wonderful experience this year. When I asked Anwyn what her favorite part of Joy School was she said "Singing the songs and doing the crafts."

The graduation program was very nice. Each child presented the flag that they had made with their family. Here is a picture of our flag. We decorated it for Family Home Evening earlier in the week.

The children sang a few songs they had learned over the year, taking turns singing duets with the microphone. Anwyn sang two songs and did a great job! She loves to sing!

Cute sisters.
We are definitely going to miss Joy School!

Remembering D-Day

I posted a tribute to those who fought 65 years ago in the Normandy invasion on my gospel blog. Feel free to view it here and take a moment to remember those who sacrificed so much for our freedoms.
