Chronicles of Prydain

This week I reread the Chronicles of Prydain series by Lloyd Alexander. They are books I like to read every couple of years. This time through I was struck by how good the good characters are. The main character, Taran, is all good. He makes mistakes but always tries to do the right thing. All of the main characters are like that. Even the bad characters sometimes, in the end, turn around and do good things. The books are uplifting even when they are sad because they are hopeful. They are some of the few books that can make me both cry and laugh. The series of novels is one of my favorites and would be a good addition to anyone's library.
