Adam at three months

At three months old, Adam is the best baby and so sweet. He is settling into a bit of a schedule. He nurses and then goes to bed around 9 p.m., then wakes up to eat sometime between 3-5a.m. and usually goes back to sleep easily. He wakes up for the day between 7-8 a.m. and eats. He is awake for a while and gets a ride in the stroller while the rest of us do our morning mile. He goes down for a nap between 9-10 and sleeps for a little less than an hour. After he wakes up and eats we head out for that days activity: swimming, library, errands, etc). Then he will alternate the rest of the day with sleep, eat, awake, for variable amounts of time. He likes to take a bath in the kitchen sink. He sleeps best swaddled with his arms wrapped up and the fan on to muffle the noise of the family, but he has a tendency to wiggle out of the blanket. He loves to see faces and be talked to, and he smiles a lot and makes noises back a lot when we talk to him. It is nice to have a baby in the house.

His favorite toy, Aiya. He made that sound while holding it, so the toy now has a name. 

Canada Day and the Fourth of July

This year we were excited to have a chance to celebrate our Canadian heritage. Lily made a really good friend in her class at school, and we were excited when we discovered that her parents  were from Canada. They are a great family, and we have enjoyed getting to know them. They invited the us and some neighborhood friends over for a morning mile run and a pancake breakfast. They had festive decorations, and shared their balloons and tattoos with us.

July 4th was hot and humid. Our ward and 5th ward hosted a pancake breakfast at the new pavilion that was just completed at our meetinghouse. It was a fun event: children's bike parade, face painting, pie-eating contest, stick-pulling, and breakfast. We had a nice time.

 

In the afternoon we got a really big rainstorm. We had hamburgers for dinner and watched a family movie that evening, then ate a red, white, and blue cake (angel food with cream and strawberries and blueberries).

As it got darker the kids did pop-its and a few sparklers. It was a little windy and prepping for more of a storm, but it ended up passing us by. Jared set off some fireworks for us. There were quite a few going off in our neighborhood, so Jared took the kids for a walk to see some of them. Zach was pretty afraid of the loud fireworks, but they all survived. It was a nice holiday for us.
