Wow, already 11 days into our trip. We were able to see many interesting things. We spent a lot of time in our van, but the driving part wasn't bad. Most of the drives were quite pretty, with lots of green! On this day we started in Connecticut, drove briefly through New York City, and then on to New Jersey. Jared planned our driving time carefully, making sure that we left later so we were able to avoid the crazy commuter traffic.

Part way through our drive we were searching for a rest stop and discovered Morristown, New Jersey.
We learned that because of its central location among the colonies, New Jersey played a key role in the struggle for independence.
The Ford Mansion was the site of General Washington's Headquarters during the winters of 1776-1777 and 1779-1780.
After our brief stop, we crossed the Delaware River into Pennsylvania. We had a gorgeous drive in the rain through the countryside, a good portion of it alongside the river.
Our next destination was Valley Forge National Historical Park. The rain was coming down very hard, so we opted for an indoor tour of the visitor center.

We watched a 20 minute movie about Valley Forge, then drove around the park a little bit. It was still raining.

By this point, we were getting eager to get to our next destination: the home of the Thiriot family!
We were happy to be able to spend time with Jared's sister Amy and their family. They were so gracious and kind to feed us and let us stay with them for the night. Lily and Zach had a great time playing with Daniel.
