64 miles in New Hampshire
117 miles in Massachusetts
47 miles in Rhode Island
69 miles in Connecticut
Day 10 for us started in New Hampshire. Adam had another great bed head. :)
Anwyn wasn't feeling very well, so we decided to have a slower morning and let her rest. I took the kids to the hotel pool for an hour.
Then it was on the road again, from New Hampshire into Massachusetts.
We opted to bypass Boston (we drove through it without stopping) and headed to Plymouth.
After a pizza lunch, we found a place to park and walk along the harbor. There were a lot of boats!
We saw a replica of the Mayflower ship.
Then we saw the "Plymouth Rock", the rock that is traditionally believed to be the place where the pilgrims landed. The rock has shrunk in size over the years (and supposedly pieces have been chipped away), and it is now surrounded by a fenced structure.
Our BYU children in Plymouth.
Plymouth was a neat place for a little stop, especially considering that Jared and I each have at lest two ancestors who arrived on the Mayflower ship.
The kids stuck their feet in the water for just a few minutes, since this really wasn't a beach to play at. But what child can resist the pull of the ocean?!
Then we got back in the van and drove through Massachusetts, until we crossed the border to Rhode Island. We were in need of a rest stop, so we stopped just across the border in Pawtucket.
We ended up at a pretty little historic site, a mill that was the first successful cotton factory in the United States (established in 1793).
We drove through Rhode Island, and into Connecticut. We stopped for dinner at Subway along the way, and were happy to reach our hotel that evening in Milford, Connecticut. This was our most spacious hotel room yet!
