On Day 6 of our trip we woke up in Canada. After checking out of our hotel we drove to a nearby Walmart to pick up a few Canadian souvenirs. I got a t-shirt and we stocked up on our favorite Canadian treats: Wunderbars and Smarties.
One indicator that we were in Canada: Restrooms are called Washrooms!
It was really overcast as we were driving, so we couldn't see the very top, but the clouds cleared up by the time we got parking figured out. Pretty impressive tower!
We walked around the harbor area and enjoyed seeing the boats.
Grandma was clever and made sure we all stopped to wave on the "wavedeck".
Then we found the Toronto Music Garden, which was a created through a collaboration by Yo Yo Ma and a landscape designer named Messervy. It is designed to reflect a Bach Suite. It was a pretty garden.
After the garden we walked more to see if we could get closer to the Tower.
We discovered the Rogers center, which is the home of the Blue Jays baseball team.

Then it was time to drive again. We drove back to the US the way we had come, over Rainbow Bridge at Niagara Falls. We drove a few hours in New York, until we reached our hotel in Victor. It was about 20 minutes from Palmyra.
We drove to the Hill Cumorah, where we met up with Ann who shared some pizza with us for dinner. By now it was about 7 p.m., and we had a few hours to kill until the pageant started at 9:20 p.m. It was very hot and sunny, so we walked around some and drank water.

We went inside the Hill Cumorah Visitors Center for a little while. We saw the Thiriot family briefly.
Attending the pagaent was a neat experience, something I have always wanted to do. It was extra special because we knew some of the actors! The Seamon's family (Jared's sister) were selected to be in the pageant this year, and honestly, that was the reason that sparked this entire road trip. We were happy to get to see them a little bit, even though it was brief. They came out in their costumes before the program started.

The Pageant started when it got dark, at about 9:20 p.m. The program was impressive, with music and text, a cast of 700 people, and Hollywood style special effects. The story is made up of events from the Book of Mormon: Lehi, Nephi, Abinadi, Alma, etc. The highlight is the appearance of the resurrected Christ to the Nephites.

Watching the pageant was really special, and definitely a highlight of our road trip!
Adam stayed awake during the whole pageant, but he was thankfully quiet and behaved well. He just wandered around on the grass in front of us, and rotated whose lap he was sitting on.
The show ended late, and it took us even longer to get out of the parking lot since we got in a line going the wrong way. There were over 7000 people watching the show, so it took some time to move all those people out.
We got to the hotel and everyone in bed by midnight, only to be awakened by a fire alarm going off at 12:30. Anwyn woke up and wanted to leave the room quickly. The other children would have slept right through it, but we took them outside (after Lily went in the bathroom and locked the door--she was still mostly asleep). The alarm was a false alarm--just someone burning something in a microwave, so we got back in our room pretty quickly.
