TanFamRoadTrip2016: Day 7

Day 7/ July 10th
36 miles in New York

Day 7 was our Palmyra day, and we were happy to have a day where we didn't have to drive! We saw the significant church history sites in the area, and spent some time at the hotel resting and doing laundry.

We drove a pretty scenic route from our hotel to the Joseph Smith Family Farm. We saw the log home that Joseph Smith Sr and Lucy Mack Smith lived in with their eight children. This was the home that Joseph Smith Jr. lived in when he was fourteen years old and saw the First Vision.

Then we walked down a pretty road...
...to the Smith Frame Home.
It was neat to see these restored/preserved buildings, and to think of what life had been like for the Smith family who lived there.

Then we were excited to meet up with the Seamons family for a little bit of cousin time!
We took a walk through the Sacred Grove.

The grove was so beautiful and peaceful. There was a feeling of tranquility there, a feeling like is felt at the temple. It was wonderful to be in that sacred place with our family.

After the grove we visited just a bit longer with family. Zach and cousin Nathan had fun playing a tag/catch game.
Siblings!

After we left the Smith Family Farm, we drove by the nearby Palmyra Temple. The children were tired and Adam was asleep, so a drive by view is all we got of this sacred building.

The rest of the day was mostly quiet time at the hotel. Anwyn wasn't feeling well and needed some rest, and Adam got a good nap in too. I spent a few hours doing laundry.  James and Ann brought us some dinner which was helpful and nice. After dinner we went to Walmart to pick up some lunch items for the next few days, and to get an ice cream treat.
