The end of the school year

The school year came to an end the first week of June. Each of the children had an assortment of class parties and fun activities for the last week, although Anwyn also had a number of end of course exams.
Zach and his sweet first grade teacher who we just love!
Zach received the class bookworm award (not a surprise)!
Our end of the year piano recital was held at a local assisted living center. We had a patriotic/folk song/American composer theme, which provided lots of good music to choose from. Seven students this year kept the piano pretty busy!

The last day of school photo! Jared commented that the smiles got progressively bigger from left to right. Who is the most excited for summer?!
I put together our summer lists for daily work and chores. This year the system includes life skills. You can read more about it here. A few days into the new system, Anwyn said it was our best chart yet!

I love to see the art work that the kids bring home at the end of the year. He is a sampling of Zach's first grade creations.
