Amazing Anwyn

Our daughter Anwyn is 3 years old. She turned 3 about a month and a half ago and has been a lot of fun. Today she did a couple funny things. I went home teaching and brought Anwyn along so Kristi could try to get some rest. Anwyn likes collecting leaves (she just likes to hold them or pick them when she is outside - she doesn't really keep them) and picked up a nice big oak leaf from the ground. We left it outside when we went home teaching. When we were leaving and the door front door was opened, Anwyn tried to race out ahead of my companion to pick up the leaf. She wasn't fast enough and he unknowingly stepped on it before she reached it. It was fine though. I just thought it was funny to see her so anxious to pick up the leaf - she was sure working hard to get to it.

Tonight Anwyn stated, "I have no back molars!" I was surprised she even knew the word. Kristi said the doctor said that at her recent check-up.

Anwyn is learning how to read (sort-of). She knows the words cat, mom, dad, Anwyn, and Lily. There are probably other words she knows. We'll probably start earnestly teaching her to read in a few months, or whenever she seems ready.

Anwyn is a good big sister to Lily (or at least tries to be) and really loves her. She can get Lily to laugh easier than either Kristi or I can. Lily really likes her big sister Anwyn.

Anwyn always amazes me at how much she knows and how quickly she learns. Kristi and I were trying to remember when she started talking but only could come up with knowing that she was speaking 6 different words when she was 10.5 months old. At 12-13 months she recognized probably 100s of words and knew things like where different body parts were (hair, nose, mouth, hands, feet, toes, chest, stomach, and probably a few others. She quickly learned where her brain was too). :-) She also loves to sing and has been singing songs for a long time (20 months at the oldest). We actually have her on video at 12-13 months of age saying e-i-e-i-o at the correct time when we sang Old MacDonald. Anyway, Anwyn is a fun little girl, who wants to grow up and be a mother (according to her).
