Another great year of Morning Mile

Another great year of Morning Mile has come to an end. We are sure grateful for this wonderful program at our elementary school, and for the hours that so many volunteers put in to make it successful. Lily and Zach were really driven this year to get a lot of miles. They set a goal at the beginning of the year to reach 200 miles, which they met about halfway through the year. So at that point they set a new goal of 300 miles, and they did it! That required getting to school by 7 a.m. and generally running two miles everyday (in the 30 minutes before school starts). They each have a number of friends who participate, so that made the whole experience more enjoyable.

The last week of school the PE teacher holds an awards ceremony. This year they gave out a trophy to the top joggers (boys and girls) in each grade, and then a 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place medal. Lily snagged the 3rd place medal in third grade, and Zach got 2nd place in first grade. But medal or not, we are pleased with their efforts and accomplishments!
