Celebrating Anwyn

Anwyn turned 9 in December, but we waited to celebrate her special day until January 25th. She wanted to invite a few friends over, so we planned a small get together along the theme of "Anwyn's Favorite Things".

Anwyn received a dolphin puzzle as a gift, so that ended up being the perfect gathering activity.
Then the girls worked on paper dolls (designed by Aunt Mindy and available free here). I hung up some string and pinned up the designs like a clothesline, and the girls picked out the outfit they wanted. We gave each girl a new set of colored pencils and a glue stick and a folder, decorated with washi tape.

Instead of gifts, this year we opted to do a book exchange. Each girl brought a wrapped chapter book to exchange (it could be used). We used a little poem to mix up the exchange a bit.

For lunch everyone made their own personal pizzas. Then we went outside to play the "chase each other and stomp on their balloon" game.
Back inside to wrap things up with Happy Birthday singing and Texas Sheet Cake.
Anwyn is blessed to have a nice set of friends, and we were happy they could all come.

After the party, the girls spent a few hours playing one of their favorite things: Lego building!
For dinner that night, Anwyn requested Teriyaki meatballs, rice, and mixed vegetables. We wrapped up the day with a Family Movie Night watching "Ramona and Beezus".

A pretty great celebration for a pretty great girl! We love you, Anwyn!

Anwyn's party looks fantastic! I love the idea to hang up the paper doll dresses so they can choose!
